Nursery!
Welcome to Nursery!
The Nursery Day begins at 9.00am and ends at 1.30pm. We have our own special entrance and here we will be warmly greeted each morning by our Nursery teacher, Mrs O’Donnell and our Learning Support Assistants, Mrs Mc Namee and Miss Duddy!
We squeeze a lot into our Nursery Day which consists of a free choice classroom-based play session, morning snack, indoor and outdoor physical play sessions, dinner/lunch routine, group time activity, singing and finally we love to finish every day off with a story! It’s no wonder we are tired by 1.30pm!
Every Monday, Danny (from the Ryan Mc Bride foundation) also comes in to develop our fundamental movement and football skills through fun games and activities.
It may look like we are only ‘playing’ but in the Nursery our play is our work! Through our play we develop the key skills that are outlined in the 6 areas that make up the Nursery curriculum: Language and communication, Early Maths experiences, The Arts, The World around us, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
We will develop our ability to share, take turns and cooperate with others and we are encouraged to become more independent and develop important self-care and problem-solving skills. Above all, our teachers want us to feel safe and happy in nursery. They will endeavour to make our Nursery experience as positive, productive and fun as possible!
Our teachers like to get to know our families and build positive home-school relationships! Look out for our Newsletter that is given out at the beginning of each month. It will keep you updated with everything that is going on in Nursery and how our families can help support our learning at home!
If you ever have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to approach Mrs O’Donnell, or any member of the nursery team, who will be more than happy to help!
